Effeson is a seasoned strategy consultant, investor and entrepreneur with advisory and operational experience in the banking, fintech and FMCG sectors, globally. He has led engagements for large multinational clients in the banking and FMCG sectors and has advised international fintech and telecom companies on expansion strategies for East African markets.
Effeson has launched the Ethiopia operations of East Africa's largest venture capital fund and led an investment in one of East Africa's leading household solar distribution and finance companies. He is also the co-founder of one of Ethiopia's first technology enabled and data driven distribution and logistics companies. He has also advised numerous investors, start-ups, well established companies, incubators, and accelerators in many strategies, operations and financing related engagements. Prior to that he was a consultant with McKinsey & Company's Addis Ababa office.
Effeson holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Marketing from New York University's Stern Business School and spent 5 years working as a derivatives trader and macroeconomic research analyst in New York.
