Thomas is an advisor, investor and entrepreneur. He has had a successful track record of providing strategic and fundraising advisory services, investing and exiting investments, and founding and growing companies across a variety of sectors in Africa and the west.
Thomas advises many multinational and local clients on their businesses in Ethiopia and regionally. He provides strategic, operational, due diligence and transaction advice across several sectors.
Previously, Thomas was the managing director of a company where he restructured operations resulting in profit growth of 20x in five years. He was also the co-founder of one of Ethiopia’s first technology enabled and data driven distribution and logistics companies that within two years became the best-selling distributor in the history of Diageo’s Ethiopia business. Before becoming an entrepreneur, Thomas’ career was in finance. Thomas was a private equity investor at Development Partners International (DPI), an Africa-focused fund based in London, and principal equity and debt investor at the World Bank's International Finance Corporation (IFC). He began his finance career in investment banking at JP Morgan advising companies in the Technology, Telecom and Media sectors. Thomas has previously been a scientist with NASA with published work in various research journals.
Thomas holds a BSc in Computer Science from Dartmouth College and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He lives in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
